Scholarships & Special Grants
NOVA coordinates a variety of scholarships and grants
that are made available exclusively to NOVA learners who participate fully
in the NOVA program. These scholarships are available only to NOVA learners
and not to the general EKU student community.
NOVA Grant
Every year NOVA awards close to $40,000 in supplemental grant aid, called
the NOVA Grant, to NOVA participants who meet eligibility criteria for
the grant. Grant recipients must be eligible for the federal Pell grant,
enroll in the NOVA Leadership Dynamics course (GSD 225), and meet deadline
requirements.

The Ethel L. Stewart Leadership Scholarship was established by the former
director of NOVA, Nancy S. Hindman, in memory of her mother, Ethel L.
Stewart. The scholarship is given to promote NOVA learners who have demonstrated
leadership abilities. Approximately two $500 scholarships are awarded
each academic year to NOVA Peer Leaders who participated in the NOVA program
their first year.
For the 2008-2009 academic year, NOVA is proud to present Mr. Roger Richardson and Ms. Jeanna Vahling as our Ethel Stewart Leadership Scholarship Winners! Congratuations!! (picture forthcoming)
For the 2006-2007 academic year, NOVA is proud to award four scholarships to four outstanding NOVA participants: Justin Young, Angela Cravens, Amanda Hess, and Michael Ricke (seen above with Nancy Hindman).
Special Grants
Several state and regional scholarships, up to $1,000 each, are made
available through TRIO professional organizations which NOVA participates
with. NOVA learners are notified through their EKU e-mail account regarding
these opportunities.
Study Abroad
NOVA provides opportunities to study abroad as monies are available.
Since 2006, NOVA has given supplemental financial assistance to 8 students for study abroad opportunities and experiences.
In the summer 2006, Rodney Pratt (Ireland), Billy Colemire (Australia), and Jessica Williams (Belize) traveled abroad and presented their journeys to the EKU community.
In the summer 2007, Leann Lacy-Williams (shown here in Mexico), Angela Cravens (London), Justin Young (Spain), Chance Taylor (Japan), and Hannah Mullis (Greece) were our Study Abroad travelers (special thanks to the EKU Foundation Fund for major financial assistance). We will be adding more to this area after our Second Annual Study Abroad Presentation event to be held in late September of this year!
