NOVA First Year Experience/Learning Community

Services and support begin immediately once the NOVA applicant has been accepted. NOVA takes a very personal, one-on-one approach to providing service for each participant. Services include: assistance at EKU Orientation and Registration, instruction, academic advising, financial aid consulting, academic assistance, and supplemental grant aid to those who qualify.

Fall Semester NOVA freshmen will be participating in the GSD 101 course, and will be meeting with their assigned Peer Leader who will be introducing and assisting with college life at EKU.

Spring Semester with NOVA includes the NOVA Learning Community, which includes linked courses that fulfill general education requirements of the University for completion of a four-year degree program. Learning communities give NOVA learners an advantage because they help them get to know each other faster. NOVA learners will take classes with some of the same people, which help build connections with classmates and instructors quickly. This promotes learning and transition to college. NOVA learners connect to the university community, other students, and faculty much faster than other students, while becoming more engaged academically and socially. The NOVA Learning Community is NOT a residential learning community. NOVA learners will not be required to live in specific residence halls.

ALL COURSES IN THE NOVA LEARNING COMMUNITY COUNT TOWARDS EKU GENERAL EDUCATION AND/OR DEGREE REQUIREMENTS.
